Tonight at 3400 Dupont Ave. S. Minneapolis. 6 to 8 PM.
Air pollution is an acute and unsettled environmental issue in the Fifth District due to years of route and interval experiments at MSP. In 2010, the World Health Organization warned that public health and mortality risks are increased near busy airports (and last year more studies reported correlation with 8+ years living or working in neighborhoods overflown regularly at lower altitudes.
SMAAC is working with other hubs against PBN/RNAV approaches to and departures from airports because they increase fuel burn per passenger mile and unnecessarily increase safety risks and cost per operation. Environmentalists and economists agree that national routes and FAA goals are contrary to environmental protection.
